Besides the office in the airport, the Gauteng Tourism Authority has its head office opposite the Market Theatre in Newtown (1 Central Place, corner of Jeppe and Henry Nxumalo sts.; tel. 011/832-2780 or 011/639-1600; www.gauteng.net) -- part of the regeneration of downtown Jozi. Alternatively, visit their satellite kiosk in the Rosebank Mall, at the craft market entrance (tel. 011/340-9111; Mon-Fri 8am-5pm, Sat-Sun 9am-6pm). There's another satellite office in Sandton Square, Entrance 6, Shop L31G, near Postnet (tel. 011/784-9596; Mon-Fri 9am-6pm, Sat 9am-3pm, Sun 10am-2pm). Unfortunately, many of the free publications and brochures are filled with sycophantic ravings about (overpriced) events and venues that pay for advertising space, so be cautious.
