With a great location, close to the dining districts of Greenside and Parkhurst and just down the beat from Rosebank's fine shopping, this beautiful boutique-style guesthouse has quickly become a great hit with regular visitors to Jo'burg. A new wing added in 2007 attests to its popularity. With a natural eye for detail, owner-designer Sarah Shonfeld has put an enormous amount of personal energy and flair into the architecture and landscaping, with great integration of indoor and outdoor spaces, and marrying natural design materials -- stone, wood, metal, and glass -- with chic African elements, bright artworks, and playful organic displays. Interiors are sleek and glamorous, with fabrics in warm earth tones; large travertine bathrooms come with Jacuzzi baths, separate showers, and heated towel rails. Outside, you can lounge on Moroccan daybeds on the patio overlooking a skinny lap pool, set in a pristine garden. In-room entertainment includes a selection of CDs and, while only breakfast is served, there's a fine selection of wines to kick off an evening on the town or to enjoy along with a relaxing bubble bath.
