Part of the reason people flock here is that the town's beaches have sand, unlike many of the other resorts along this coast, which have pebbly beaches. Plage de Juan-les-Pins is the most central beach. Its subdivisions, all public, include Plage de la Salis and Plage de la Garoupe. If you don't have a beach chair, go to the concessions operated by each of the major beachfront hotels. Even if you're not a guest, you can rent a chaise and mattress for around 15€ to 18€ ($20-$23). The most chic is the area maintained by the Hôtel des Belles-Rives. Competitors more or less in the same category are La Jetée and La Voile Blanche, both opposite the tourist information office. Topless sunbathing is permitted, but total nudity isn't.
Watersports -- If you're interested in scuba diving, check with your hotel staff, Easy Dive, Port Gallice (tel. 04-93-61-26-07; www.easydive.fr), or EPAJ, embarcadère Courbet (tel. 04-93-67-52-59). A one-tank dive costs 45€ ($54), including all equipment. Water-skiing is available at virtually every beach in Juan-les-Pins. Concessionaires include one outfit that's more or less permanently located on the beach of the Hôtel des Belles-Rives. Ask any beach attendant or bartender, and he or she will guide you to the water-skiing representatives who station themselves on the sands. A 10-minute session costs 15€ to 25€ ($20-$33).
