Getting There

You can fly into Kamloops on Air Canada Jazz (tel. 888/247-2262; www.flyjazz.ca), which operates daily 50-minute flights from Vancouver, and rent a car at the airport from Budget (tel. 800/268-8900 in Canada, 800/527-0700 in the U.S.; www.budget.com), Discount (tel. 250/372-7170; www.discountcar.com), or Hertz (tel. 250/376-3022; www.hertz.com).

Kamloops is a junction point for many provincial roads, including the Trans-Canada Highway and the Coquihalla toll road (Hwy. 5), the fastest route to/from Vancouver.

There are seven daily Greyhound Canada (tel. 800/661-8747; www.greyhound.ca) buses from Vancouver; the fare is C$55 (US$55/£27.50). VIA Rail (tel. 888/VIA-RAIL; www.viarail.ca) passes through on the main transnational route. Kamloops is also the overnight stop for the Grand Canadian Railtour Company's luxury Rocky Mountaineer (tel. 800/665-7245).
