Frommer's Review
Golfers take note: This large home, which looks like something out of Architectural Digest, fronts 480 feet of the fairway and the 6th hole of the Makai Golf Course at Princeville. In addition to discounts on greens fees at both the Prince and the Makai courses, the former Hale 'Aha ("House of Gathering") offers luxury accommodations in a beautiful Princeville setting, where every detail is thought out: No guest rooms have adjoining walls, thereby ensuring all their visitors peace and privacy. The four rooms range from the well-priced Bali Hai Room, with an ocean view, a private entrance, and a refrigerator; to the Penthouse Suite, where you can splurge in the 1,000-square-foot suite with a whirlpool tub in the bathroom, a private lanai, and 360-degree panoramic views of the golf course, mountains, and ocean. All units get complimentary breakfast, consisting of pancakes or an egg casserole with plenty of fruit, coffee, tea, and pastries. Not appropriate for children.

| Frommer's Kauai, 3rd Edition | |
| 0 stars | Frommer's Recommended | |
| 1 stars | Frommer's Highly Recommended | |
| 2 stars | Frommer's Very Highly Recommended | |
| 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
