Frommer's Review
Run to the phone right now and book this place! Hard to believe that nestled in the rolling hills behind Kapaa, this old-fashioned country inn exists. Not only does it exist, but hosts Mike and Martina Hough, refugees from the fast life of running an international advertising agency in Los Angeles, have taken their considerable creative talents and produced a slice of paradise on 2 acres. Each of the four suites is uniquely decorated in Hawaiian Art Deco with a touch of humor, complete with hardwood floors, private bathrooms, kitchen or kitchenette, your own McIntosh computer with Wi-Fi connection, and lots of little amenities that will make you break out into laughter at the Hough's sense of humor. Everything is top drawer from the "rain" shower head in the bathroom to the subzero refrigerator. They recently added a two-bedroom country cottage for families with young children. The grounds are immaculate, and you can pick as much organic fruit as you want from the abundance of mango, guava, lilikoi, star fruit, oranges, and lemons. Beatles fans take note: Mike has been collecting memorabilia for decades and has the only private Beatles Museum in the state (including a Mini Cooper S car owned by Brian Epstein, the Beatles manager; original paintings by John Lennon; and a host of books, records, movies, tapes, T-shirts, and other interesting and unusual rare items). And for those missing the family pooch, Annie, the staff golden retriever, personally greets each guest like her long-lost friend.
