Some of the books mentioned have been made into movies and what better way to tell a story than with a stunning African landscape as a backdrop. The cinematography in Out of Africa is breathtaking; few will forget the rolling acacia-studded grasslands that Karen Blixen fell in love with. Other movies set in Kenya include Nowhere in Africa, about a Jewish woman fleeing Nazi Germany with her daughter to join her husband on a farm in Kenya; White Mischief, based on the true story of the unexplained murder of Lord Erroll, who was part of the notorious Happy Valley set in colonial Kenya; To Walk with Lions, which tells the story of George Adamson's later life and his conservation work releasing lions into the wild; and The Constant Gardener, a thriller about a widower trying to solve his wife's murder against a backdrop of espionage between the Kenyan authorities and the British Embassy.
