The innkeepers here do a fine job making this inn, with nearly 100 rooms, feel like a smaller and more intimate place. Especially appealing is the attention paid to service and detail -- the staff even brushes guests' car windows in the morning after a snow. The lodge, set back slightly from busy Route 4 between Pico and Rutland, was built in 1966, with additions in 1975 and 1987. The interior has retro ski chalet charm dating from the original construction -- even with a sunken conversation pit with a two-sided fireplace and a spiral staircase twisting up to a second level. (What, no "Twister?") Guest rooms vary slightly in their modern country style, but all are nicely furnished.
