Getting There

By Plane -- You can fly directly into Knoxville's McGhee Tyson Airport (tel. 865/342-3000; www.tys.org).

By Car -- Major routes into Knoxville are I-40 from the east (Winston-Salem, North Carolina) and west (Nashville), I-75 from the north (Lexington, Kentucky) and south (Chattanooga and Atlanta), and I-81 from the northeast.

Visitor Information

For information on the region, visit the Gateway Regional Visitor Center, 301 S. Gray St. (tel. 800/727-8045; www.knoxville.org). If you're interested in country music, pick up the "Cradle of Country Music" walking tour of downtown Knoxville; if you prefer your sights vintage, try the "Historic Homes" driving tour.
