Visitor Information --  The Korčula Town tourist office (www.visitkorcula.eu; tel. 020/715-701) is on the seafront at Obala Dr. Franje Tudđmana 4.

Getting There -- Korčula is linked to Split by speedy catamarans and ferries, each of which makes the round-trip at least once per day, arriving either directly at Korčula Town, or at Vela Luka at the western end of the island. Frequent ferries also serve Korčula from nearby Orebić, with pedestrians landing at Korčula Town and car ferries landing at Dominiče, 3km (1 3/4 miles) southeast of there. There is also daily bus service from Dubrovnik via the car ferry. For ferry information, contact the Jadrolinija office (www.jadrolinija.hr; tel. 020/715-410) in Korččula Town. Bus schedules and fare information can be obtained at the Korčula Town bus station (tel. 060/373-060).

Getting Around -- Local buses make five runs daily from Korčula Town to Vela Luka, covering the length of the island. You can also rent a bike and easily pedal the 6km (4 miles) between Korčula Town and Lumbarda, where the best beaches are. At its widest point, Korčula is about 8km (5 miles) wide and it is less than 32km (20 miles) long.
