Conservation Corporation (CC Africa) is one of southern Africa's premier safari operators, with a variety of camps and lodges operating to varying standards; they have two operations in the Timbavati, one of which is this highly recommended camp, comprising six deluxe en-suite tents on the banks of the Timbavati River -- it delivers a superb bush experience, with operating rights within 14,000 hectares (34,580 acres) of land providing one of the best game-viewing experiences outside of Sabi Sand. It's a little cheaper, but don't be tempted by the "luxury" lodging at the Ngala Main Camp (R6,600/$917/£471 in peak season), with thatched cottages that are cramped and too stacked on top of one another to provide a relaxing experience or any sense of privacy; it's more like a small hotel than a safari. Note that Ngala also offers a highly recommended 3-day walking safari for R1,500/$208/£107 per person per night.
