Frommer's Review
One of the very first luxury tented camps in the Kruger area, Tanda Tula gives a real sense of being in the heart of the bush. The en-suite safari-style tents, erected on timber deck floors, offer all the comforts of a well-furnished room, while the tent walls do nothing to filter out the sounds of the wilds. The 12 tents are all privately situated, each with its own furnished stoep (veranda); try to reserve tent no. 1 for the best view (or no. 10 as an alternative). Bathrooms have Victorian tubs and outdoor showers. Because the surrounding bush is quite dense and rooms are not as luxurious as its competitors, you're more likely to spend time in the elegant and comfortably furnished open-sided lounge and dining area, which leads out onto the lawns and pool. This is where drinks are served, as well as lunch, and at night a huge fire is lit, even if dinner is served in the adjacent boma. Weather permitting, breakfasts are served in the bush, and braais (barbecues) are regularly held on the riverbed. Tanda Tula means "to love the quiet," and the team does everything possible to ensure that you can do just that. Game drives cover a potential 20,000 hectares (49,400 acres), providing Tanda Tula with access to the largest area in Timbavati, and you'll likely spot at least three of the Big 5 in 1 day.
