Frommer's Review
Opened in 1997, the Marriott is finding itself overshadowed by some of the city's newer properties. But the small lobby area still allows for a very dramatic entrance, complete with wrought-iron filigree and marble. The modern guest rooms have a European flavor, decorated in deep greens and reds with plush carpeting, large desks, and a leather executive chair that are all beginning to show wear. If you've stayed at Marriott in other locations, this one might disappoint you. It's not their hottest property, yet the staff is very motivated and enthusiastic. Another great plus: the hotel is next door to some of the most upmarket and trendy shopping complexes in the city. Similar to the Regent, this hotel is adjacent to what appeared to be a new construction site, so ask about noise pollution when booking.
Facilities: 4 restaurants; lounge and cigar bar; outdoor pool; outdoor lighted tennis court; fitness center w/Jacuzzi, sauna, and steam; new spa w/massage and beauty treatments; concierge; limousine service; business center; salon; 24-hr. room service; babysitting; same-day laundry service; dry cleaning; executive-level rooms; shopping mall w/designer boutiques adjacent.

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
