Stuffed birds, a mongoose, and a cobra greet you at this friendly, family-run establishment; a stay here certainly won't be your cookie-cutter hotel experience. A member of the Japanese Inn Group, it has a central location, just a 10-minute walk to the castle grounds and a 2-minute walk to the streetcar that will take you onward to Suizenji Garden. Tatami rooms, named after flowers, are simple but clean. If you call, you'll most likely be picked up at the station. A cupboard in the hall has self-service coffee and tea free of charge.
