The first hotel in Seminyak and one of the leading hotels of the world, the Oberoi has long attracted celebrities, from Henry Kissinger to Julia Roberts. The property is composed of individual lanais -- native bungalows of coral stone with wood beams and thatch roofs. Rooms are cozy and strike a great balance between high-end comforts and local style. Amenities are first class all the way: raised futon beds, marble bathrooms with sunken tubs facing private gardens, and goodies like slippers, robes, and flip-flops for the beach. Private pool villas are luxurious beyond belief. The beach here is great, with a nice expanse of sand and few touts to harass you. An outdoor amphitheater hosts traditional dance performances. Service is genuinely warm and helpful without fawning, and you can feel at ease here without forgetting that you're in Bali. The fine spa is managed by Banyan Tree.
