Frommer's Review
An unpretentious family restaurant, this likeable place has live Cajun music every night. Their glory days may or may not be behind them, but the hearty meals at Prejean's still make this worth a drop-in. Their smoked duck and andouille gumbo (sans pheasant) is a Fest favorite, and justly, as are the crawfish enchiladas, which made one taster swear off the usual sort forever. There are lots of recognizable Cajun dishes, but with elaborate flourishes, perhaps sometimes erring on the gloppy side. Look for fried crawfish boudin balls and the seafood-stuffed mushrooms (think a sort of mini crab cake stuffed into a 'shroom) for appetizers, and shrimp stuffed with tasso and jack cheese, and then wrapped in bacon, or a more traditional, more staid blackened fish on top of crawfish étouffée for an entree. Matters are cheaper and lighter at lunch when the menu includes a BBQ shrimp po' boy and less expensive versions of the dinner menu. If the menu still lists the "fresh" Louisiana strawberry shortcake, insist on knowing for sure that they mean it before you order it, as the one we had featured a hideous gelatinous syrup instead of actual fruit.

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
