This Georgian colonial mansion, built in the 1920s, looks a bit like the White House and is the best place to stay in La Grande. It's filled with beautiful woodwork and comfortable guest rooms, a couple of which have the original bathroom fixtures. The best deal here is the three-room suite, which has a fireplace and a sun porch that has been converted into a sleeping room. Breakfasts are elegant affairs served in the formal dining room.
