Dis 'N Dat (tel. 866/DIS-N-DAT [347-6328]; www.disndatshop.com): This is my favorite shop on Lanai, where Barry (Dis) and Susie (Dat) have collected the unusual, the bizarre, and the hilariously funny. You'll find everything from finely crafted teak and exotic wood sculptures and carvings to mobiles and wind chimes (the more outrageous, the better), plus an impressive line of handmade jewelry, stained glass, and more.
The Local Gentry (tel. 808/565-9130): This wonderful Lanai boutique features clothing and accessories that are not the standard resort-shop fare. You'll find fabulous silk aloha shirts by Iolani, Putumayo separates (perfect for Hawaii) in easy-care fabrics, a fabulous line of silk aloha shirts by Tiki, top-quality hemp-linen camp shirts, inexpensive sarongs, fabulous socks, and the Tommy Bahama line for men and women. There are also great T-shirts, swimwear, jewelry, bath products, picture frames, jeans, chic sunglasses, offbeat sandals, and wonderful children's clothes.
