Langkawi's designated Duty Free Port status makes shopping here quite fun and very popular. In Kuah town, two shopping malls, Langkawi Parade (Jalan Kelibang; tel. 04/966-6372) and Langkawi Fair (Persiaran Putra; tel. 04/969-8100), both in Kuah town, are filled with duty-free shopping. For local handicrafts, the Langkawi Craft and Cultural Complex (Jalan Teluk Yu; tel. 04/959-1913; daily 10am-6pm) sells an assortment of batik, baskets, ceramic, silver jewelry, brassware, and more, and also has daily crafts demonstrations and cultural shows.
