While it won't win any awards, the long-established Friendship has good facilities and pleasant enough rooms, and its location directly opposite Lanzhou's only real "sight" -- the museum -- makes it a convenient option. There are several wings to this monster of a hotel; the west wing has light, bright, and quiet rooms, with carpets that are only mildly worn and good bathrooms. The hotel is popular with tour groups.
