Frommer's Review
In the heart of Montignac, this place functioned as a postal relay station during the 1800s, providing food and lodging to travelers. Today, it offers traditionally furnished rooms and a landscaped garden. The larger, better-decorated accommodations with more contemporary tub/shower bathrooms lie in a modern annex built in the 1980s, a short walk from the original building. Units in the hotel's core are very comfortable, albeit a bit less stylish; each has a compact shower-only bathroom. The main restaurant serves traditional Dordogne fare such as stewed snails with garlic and magret of duckling prepared with three different flavorings: cèpes (flap mushrooms), morels, and truffles. Dessert may be a slice of walnut cake with vanilla-walnut sauce. The less formal Le Bistrot offers salads, snacks, and simple platters. You can have a fixed-price menu in the bistro at 13€ ($19), although set dinners in the main restaurant range from 25€ to 54€ ($36-$78).
