Stratta ReviewNow that celebrated chef Alex Stratta's beloved Alex at Wynn Las Vegas has closed, your only chance to sample the chef's fantastic cuisine is here at this more casual space. It has a low-key, loungelike atmosphere, convivial service, and a laid-back vibe that seems to encourage sitting and relaxing despite the fact that two of the four walls are open to the casino, thereby putting you under the microscope of gawking tourists. What you will be eating is a simple yet effective menu of Italian- and Mediterranean-inspired dishes, starting with a basket of warm ciabatta bread and homemade pesto, and then graduating to bruschetta, beef carpaccio, and delicate prosciutto. Main courses include wood-fired pizzas, a variety of pastas, osso buco, veal Marsala, lasagna, and various cuts of meat and seafood. Check to see if the potato gnocchi is available as a starter; Chef won't put it on the menu unless the potatoes are perfect, and the results are creamy and delicately spiced. Pork chop fans would be remiss in not trying the superior thick cut stuffed with cheese and prosciutto. Yes, that's pork stuffed with pork. You got a problem with that? Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
