Getting There -- Set in the upper regions of the Arlberg Pass, Lech has no railway connections. Visitors are best advised to take the train to the rail stations at either end of the Arlberg Tunnel and then transfer to a bus that winds its way up the mountain passes to Lech. Passengers from either Vorarlberg or Tyrol should get off at Langen am Arlberg, the closest station to Lech. All Zurich-Vienna express trains stop here. Passengers then transfer to one of the half-dozen daily buses that depart for Lech (trip time: 25 min.). For bus information and schedules, call the Lech tourist office.
Lech is 90km (56 miles) southeast of Bregenz, 648km (403 miles) west of Vienna, and 200km (124 miles) east of Zurich. If you're driving from Tyrol, take Route 198 north after you pass through the Arlberg Tunnel.
Visitor Information -- The tourist office (tel. 05583/21610) is in the town center. It's open in winter Monday to Saturday 8am to 6:30pm, Sunday 8am to noon and 3 to 5pm; in summer Monday to Saturday 8am to noon and 2 to 6pm, Sunday 8am to noon and 3 to 5pm.
