Hotel Berghof also rents rooms.
Whereas Lech boasts medieval roots and a status as a bona-fide alpine village, Oberlech is a relatively recent creation of modern tourism, and most of the hotels here are open only in winter. Some hardy souls struggle about a kilometer (1/2 mile) uphill on foot from Lech to reach Oberlech, site of about 10 hotels and a grocery store. The situation is complicated by the fact that Oberlech's streets are reserved for pedestrians. The best way to reach Oberlech is to ride the Bergbahn Oberlech cable car, which operates daily from 7am to 1am (tel. 05583/2350 for information), from the center of Lech to Oberlech. Those with ski passes ride free, and everyone else pays 5.80€ ($7.55) round-trip.
If your hotel is in Oberlech, park your car at the base of the Bergbahn Oberlech (the cost of which is usually included in the price of your hotel), and carry your luggage to the cable car, whose operator will phone ahead to your hotel. An employee will usually meet you at the top to assist with your luggage.
