Getting There
From Sydney, it takes about 9 hours to drive to Lightning Ridge, via Bathurst, Dubbo, and the fascinating town of Walgett. Airlink (tel. 02/6884 2435) flies to Lightning Ridge from Sydney via Dubbo. Countrylink (tel. 13 22 32) runs trains from Sydney to Dubbo, and then it's a bus from there. The trip from Dubbo takes around 4 1/2 hours and costs A$60 (US$54/£27).
