The finest and most prestigious hotel in town, this mirror-covered structure was built around 1980 at the edge of the city's pedestrian zone, a 5-minute walk north of the railway station. A center of nightlife in Linz, the government-rated five-star hotel contains three comfortable restaurants, two bars, and a casino, open daily from 3pm to 3am. Rooms are airy, sunny, and filled with tastefully streamlined furniture. The beds are very comfortable, and the bathrooms are well equipped with robes and tub/shower combinations. Two rooms are furnished with waterbeds, which must be specially requested when reservations are made.

Of the three restaurants within the hotel, the Rouge et Noir, serving French and Austrian cuisine, is the best; the Primo Piano offers upscale dining, serving regional cuisine; and the Café am Pair serves small meals plus snacks, pastries, and coffees.
