Frommer's Review
Galaxies of stars have already been scattered in abundance over this, one of the state's courtliest manor inns. While the main building is almost entirely new, some elements survive from the original 1894 structure, the most delightful of which is the richly paneled library. Porches look out across manicured lawns to deep woods -- 58 acres of them. Most bedrooms have fireplaces, and the bathrooms are done with tapestry rugs and mahogany wainscoting -- all is as close to perfection as such an enterprise is likely to be, almost justifying the breathtaking prices. The clientele can't be described as youthful.
The posh on-site spa features scrubs, wraps, "rituals," and more. The accomplished restaurant features top-drawer ingredients drawn from New England producers and Atlantic fisheries. Execution can be uneven. Perhaps needless to say, the wine cellar is extensive, meticulously chosen, and pricey.
Facilities:
Restaurant (eclectic); pub; heated outdoor pool; nearby golf course; tennis court; elaborate spa; extensive health club; bike rental; same-day laundry; dry cleaning

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
