A laid-back, budget-friendly alternative to the Novotel, there are 25 very plain rooms and 6 luxe villas that are thatched Sasak-style bungalows and arranged around a small swimming pool and garden. The villas are plush, decorated with furnishings of inlaid wood or carved and gilded Balinese pieces. Bathrooms are comfortable and modern, with bathtubs in an outdoor garden. The Matahari staff is gracious and helpful, and can arrange excursions or activities like beach sports and horseback riding.
