Frommer's Review
This outstanding boutique hotel, conveniently located in a Victorian town house across the street from Kensington Palace, offers modern luxury in an intimate, traditional setting. The Milestone's beautiful public rooms are awash with fresh flowers, dark woods, antique furnishings, and fabric wallcoverings, creating the cozy atmosphere of a private manor house.
Guest rooms and suites are spread over six floors and vary in size and shape (a few rooms are a bit small). They feature a full range of amenities, luxurious beds, and marble bathrooms, some of which have Jacuzzis. All accommodations are individually and creatively decorated, though some are more theme-intensive than others. The masculine Savile Row Room is "papered" in pinstriped material and sports a tailor's dummy and books on men's fashion; the serene Royal Studio has a small balcony and a sleigh bed; and the bilevel Club Suite offers an English library-style lounge, complete with an antique billiards table. You can request a room overlooking the palace and Kensington Gardens, but be advised that these have original leaded windows, which look wonderful but can't be double-glazed, so traffic noise does leak through.
