The window is a fantasia of icing-blobbed, fruit-topped, sugar-dusted pastry temptation, but the real reason to step inside this rustic-style casual restaurant is locally grown, organic comfort foods such as beef lasagna; five-spice marinated pulled pork; chili con carne; and creamy chicken and apricot curry. The high, wooden tables feel like something from an American farmhouse even as they look out on the neighborhood’s French residents and the families on their way to the big Kensington museums around the corner. Being one of the few non-corporate choices in South Ken has brought success; new locations just opened at 36–38 Old Compton Street in Soho and on the north side of Leicester Square.
