I prefer this calm, sleek hotel to those on Ocean Front Walk; the beachfront scene can morph from fun to tiresome after an hour or so. (f you relish being in the midst of the human carnival, you might like the comparable but somewhat more expensive Venice on the Beach). The quiet (for Venice) residential location, abutting Marina del Rey, puts you within an easy walk of the beach and boardwalk but provides respite when you need it. Spacious guest rooms are predominantly white (bedding, walls, furniture), set off by dark carpeting and one tomato-colored accent wall; upper-level rooms have open-beam ceilings, and most have balconies. Mini-fridges in every room are a nice perk. All look down on the cobblestone courtyard where continental breakfast is served in good weather. Staff will loan you beach towels when needed, and you can rent bikes and in-line skates nearby to explore the marina and canals.
