Frommer's Review
The Ritz-Carlton in Pasadena is such a stunning hideaway that by just spending the day there -- especially at the spa -- you'll feel like a Rockefeller. The 12,000-square-foot spa is in the Carriage House near the entrance of the hotel, with the fitness center, salon, and spa boutique. An ultra-friendly staff greets you with your keys to relaxation: a fluffy robe, cozy slippers, and access to a dimly lit room strewn with candles, herbal teas, and fresh fruit. Guests are led down quiet hallways to one of 17 treatment rooms for an array of services including Chinese color clay body treatments, Ayurvedic massage, or facials using France's exclusive Clarita line. A great combo is the 25-minute tension-relief massage ($65) and the Walk in the Clouds pedicure which buffs and massages your legs and feet for a full 50 minutes ($65). Afterward, head out to the Terrace Restaurant for a glass of champagne and lunch next to the pool.
