Westsiders rejoiced when this branch of Boyle Heights's award-winning La Serenata de Girabaldi began serving its authentic, innovative Mexican cuisine just a block away from the Westside Pavilion shopping center. This place is casual, fun, and intensely delicious. Local favorites are the Mexican shrimp in rich mojo de ajo sauce, fish tacos, shrimp enchiladas, pork gorditas, and tender beef tongue in tomatillo sauce. All dishes are accented with hand-patted corn tortillas, and fresh chips served with flavorful, fresh salsas. It's always packed to capacity, so try to avoid the prime lunch and dinner hours.
