Review of The BrigThis ultrahip bar, at the end of the Abbot Kinney strip in Venice, attracts an eclectic crowd of young clubgoers from all over L.A. The spacious main room pumps house beats, creating an atmosphere in which the scantily clad women and well-dressed men vie for attention from the opposite sex. If you're just rolling off the beach, however, don't be worried about being underdressed because at the Brig, less is more (at least early in the evening). If you're lucky enough to get on the lone pool table, you can show off your skills and perhaps attract some of that sought-after attention to yourself. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
