Hôtel Notre-Dame de France

Located next to the Galilée et Windsor, this hotel is steps from the main monument (the sanctuaries associated with the visions of Bernadette). Originally built around 1928, it underwent radical rebuilding in the late 1980s that eliminated virtually every vestige of its Art Deco detailing. The owners, M. and Mme. Imbert, offer simple, no-frills rooms with almost monastic furnishings, plus small bathrooms -- some with shower only, some with combination tub/showers. Each bedroom has a view of the fortress of Lourdes and the nearest Pyrénées summits. Some pilgrims appreciate the emphasis here on religious activities. Overall, it's a worthy budget choice.
