Frommer's Review
Eat where the parents of West Point cadets do, in this 1920s hotel on the campus of the famous military academy. Easily the best restaurant in the immediate area, the Hotel Thayer's elegant restaurant, with its dark wood, chandeliers, and exposed stone walls, keeps pace with the dramatic architecture of the West Point campus. It has a vaguely medieval feel, like dining in the workers' mess hall in a Gothic castle. Even if you're not staying here, it's worth passing through two or three security checkpoints for a meal. Entrees included pan-seared red snapper, baked stuffed shrimp with crabmeat, and rack of lamb with mint demi-glace. The restaurant is fairly priced and has attentive service and a good wine list. Sunday's champagne brunch is very popular, as are special events like comedy and dinner and dancing on Friday and Saturday evenings.
