A sprawling hotel complex and conference estate, with one 1840s mansion and six or seven outpost buildings on the property, is tucked serenely behind gates just up the road from Washington Irving's Sunnyside home on the river. Loaded with amenities and sports facilities, this is a perfect place for both business and leisure travelers, including families. Rooms are quite large and comfortable; they were recently renovated in attractive contemporary style (brightly colored and flowered, but unfussy, bedcovers). The best rooms by far, though more expensive, are the 10 in the Georgian-style King House mansion. They have antiques, fireplaces, and large and nicely appointed bathrooms. Some even have terrific wraparound terraces with excellent views. Ask about the Passport to Sleepy Hollow Country package, which includes 2 nights' accommodations, breakfast, and admission to three nearby historic sights (Kykuit, Lyndhurst, and so on).
