Occupying a prime position on the city's riverfront promenade, the Rathaus Brauerei hums with locals and out of towners, who flock here for home-brewed beers with a seasonal twist. In general, at least four beers are offered at any given time. The establishment's most popular brew is its Rathaus Bier, which is a blond lager. In the warmer months, outdoor dining makes this a lively social spot, but in winter it's all about plain wooden furniture, giant copper vats, vaulted ceilings, and stone walls, with rib-sticking comfort food (local sausages, fried fish, schnitzel) and good drinking snacks (such as pretzels) keeping the chill at bay and the good beer company. Find it under the arches on the Reuss' promenade, just near the Chapel Bridge, and be prepared to talk loudly in order to be heard amid the dull roar.
