Frommer's Review
At first it struck us as the worst-named hotel in Sweden. Why Djingis Khan? Actually, it makes sense when you learn that Djingis Khan is the name of a revue written by Hasse Alfredsson and presented by Lund students in 1954. Since that time, this same show has been performed every 5 years. The building itself looks like an upmarket student dormitory but it's one of the best hotels in town, though not a rival of the Grand . We found the staff the most helpful in town. "We can help you book flights, order a taxi, or arrange for a shirt to be washed," the hotel proclaims -- and it's all true. The midsize bedrooms have sleek modern styling and are comfortably arranged with all the gadgets you'll need. The hotel doesn't quite escape its original function it had when it was built in the 1970s as employee housing for a local hospital, but the conversion to a hotel in the early 1990s was more or less successful. Public areas contain lots of English-inspired dark paneling, Chesterfield sofas, and an ambience that evokes a private men's club in London.
