The Mimslyn Inn

Built in 1931 on 14 acres of lawns and trees, this 3-story colonial-style inn recently morphed into a luxury hotel equipped with a full-service spa. High-back rockers behind tall white columns on the front porch have Blue Ridge vistas, as do most of the guest rooms and the Skyline Terrace, an unusual third-floor sunroom and rooftop patio. Almost hidden behind the lobby fireplace, curving stairs lead up to the guest rooms and down to the spa and to the lively Speakeasy Bar & Restaurant, Luray's favorite pub. While it serves excellent fare, the elegant Circa '31 dining room off the lobby plays second fiddle to the Speakeasy. Each of the guest rooms is individually decorated, some with a European flair, other tending to Colonial Americana. The top-floor suites are by far the largest, with separate living rooms.
