Frommer's Review
Owners Bob and Cece Castle remodeled this 1940s service station/motel into a collection of log-look cabins with comfortable Williamsburg-style furnishings throughout. These are the closest accommodations to the Shenandoah National Park's Central District. Although located along busy U.S. 211, the rear of the cabins open to decks or sunrooms overlooking a bubbling brook, and road noise dies down after dark. Four "honeymoon" units have whirlpool tubs or hot tubs, four have gas fireplaces, and one has a kitchen (the others, refrigerators only). None has a TV or phone, but three newer cabins about 2 miles away do. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the Brookside Restaurant on the premises serves inexpensive Southern-style home cooking.
