NightlifeLuxembourg City stays up late, and there are numerous nightspots, jazz clubs, theater performances, concerts, and other after-dark activities to choose from. Clubs come and go rather frequently, so it's a good idea to stop by the tourist office on place Guillaume II and pick up a copy of La Semaine à Luxembourg (The Week in Luxembourg) to see what's happening during your visit. In addition, get the Luxembourg News, an English-language newspaper published every Friday that highlights current events. City Luxembourg Agenda lists leading entertainment venues in addition to restaurants. The Performing Arts Concerts, Music & Dance -- From May to October, the Grand Théâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg, rond-point Robert Schuman (tel. 47-96-39-00; www.theater-vdl.lu), presents major concert artists from around the world, in addition to concerts by the Grand Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg (tel. 22-99-01-1; www.opl.lu). There are dance (ballet and modern) performances and musical revues by visiting artists year-round. Admission varies according to what's on, but on average you can expect to pay around 20€ ($25). Local dance and jazz school students have periodic performances at Théâtre des Capucins . Theater -- The Round Tower Players present high-caliber productions (in English) at Théâtre des Capucins, place du Théâtre 9 (tel. 47-96-40-54; www.theater-vdl.lu); admission is around 12€ ($15). For classic theater in French, there's the Théâtre National du Luxembourg, route de Longwy (tel. 26-44-12-70; www.tnl.lu). Dance Clubs A popular among students is Melusina, rue de la Tour Jacob 145 (tel. 43-59-22; www.melusina.lu), which alternates between rock and jazz groups; house spins in the separate Ultra Lounge. It's open on Friday and Saturday from 11pm to 3am; cover is 7.50€ ($9.40). There's also a restaurant, open Monday to Saturday. For disco, dance, house, hip-hop, r'n'b, and salsa, head for The Pulp Club, bd. d'Avranches 36 (tel. 49-69-40; www.pulp.lu), which spins tunes in three separate rooms; it's open Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 11pm to 3am. The attached Humphrey's restaurant (Mon-Sat) serves decent sushi. If Latin is more your style, there's the hot-blooded Cuba Libre, place des Bains 5 (tel. 47-27-08); it's open Monday to Thursday from 9pm to 1am, Friday and Saturday from 9pm to 3am. Bars Two lively bars in the Old City are Um Piquet, rue de la Poste 30 (tel. 47-36-87); and Club 5, rue Chimay 5 (tel. 46-17-63), a trendy bar with a good upstairs eatery. Down in the valley, Grund is blessed with several good pubs: Scott's, Bisserwée 4 (tel. 22-64-74), which serves Guinness and English ale to a mostly expatriate crowd; Trader's Café, Bisserwée 9 (tel. 26-20-04-15), a popular watering hole across the street from Scott's, in an old building; and Pygmalion, rue de la Tour Jacob 19 (tel. 42-08-60), a typical Irish pub.
