Unless you've been looking for a T-shirt with your name written in hieroglyphs, a stuffed toy camel, or a bag of overpriced saffron, the Luxor shopping scene is going to be a bit of a letdown. If you have, however, then you're in for a treat -- the heavily touristy souk behind the Luxor Temple is bursting with stalls full of repro figurines, cheap water pipes, and souvenir shirts and hats. You shouldn't ignore the "tourist bazaar" next to the Winter Palace, however. Unlike the souk behind the temple, this dilapidated little mall hasn't been spiffed up recently (if ever) and contains a number of fake antiques and dusty curio stores that are fun to browse.
