Planning a TripGetting There -- The town is rather remote, and the local tourist office recommends that you rent a car to get here. However, local daily trains from Exeter arrive at Barnstaple. For rail information, call tel. 0845/7484950 or visit www.nationalrail.co.uk. From Barnstaple, bus service is provided to Lynton at a frequency of about one every hour. Call tel. 01598/752225 for schedules. If you're driving, take the M4 west from London to the junction with the M5, and then head south to the junction with the A39. Continue west on the A39 to Lynton-Lynmouth. Visitor Information -- The Tourist Information Centre is at the Town Hall, Lee Road (tel. 01598/752225; www.lynton-lynmouth-tourism.co.uk), and is open from Easter to October Monday to Saturday 9:30am to 5pm, Sunday 10am to 4pm, and from November to Easter Monday to Saturday 10am to 4pm, Sunday 10am to 2pm.
