Frommer's Review
Established more than 2 centuries ago, "Mrs. Hooper's Lodgings" was where the Romantic poet brought his child bride, Harriet Westbrook, in 1812. Today it's been transformed into a remarkable little hotel of charm and grace. (Shelley left without paying his bill, incidentally.) In the center of the village, the hotel, opening onto views of Lynmouth Bay, has been tastefully restored and individually decorated, some of its handsomely furnished bedrooms with their own private conservatory and balcony. All accommodations come with private bathrooms -- some with shower, some with tub/shower combination. Big windows make the rooms bright when the sun is shining, and the staff is most helpful and welcoming. The full English breakfast comes with such delights as smoked salmon, waffles with maple syrup, kedgeree, and kippers.
