Stop at the Downtown Macon Welcome Center for a self-guided tour map, or download it yourself from the welcome center's website (www.maconga.org). You can also arrange, through the welcome center, customized group tours with professional guides, or you can buy an "Around Town" combination ticket. The ticket gives you admission to several attractions.
Organized tours are offered by the popular Around Town Tours, 450 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. (tel. 478/743-3401; www.maconga.org), which offers tours of three historic homes. The tour is given every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday at 10am and 4pm, and costs $18 for adults and $8.50 for children 5 to 18, including admission prices. It's advised that you arrive at least 15 minutes prior to tour departure.
