Frommer's Review
Though lacking the tradition of Reid's Palace, this is nonetheless a pocket of posh for lovers of sleek contemporary styling with lots of facilities and amenities. The latest government-rated five-star luxury resort, it is a distinguished address for luxury living in the sun, lying a 10-minute walk north of the center. It's also a family favorite because of its children's programs and special facilities such as a kiddie pool. Rooms go from midsize to spacious and come in many varieties, ranging from junior suites to mammoth penthouse suites. Bathrooms are tiled and luxe, with separate showers but also tubs.
The stunning complex opens onto views of the Atlantic, and is peppered with pools, sun decks, terraces, tropical gardens, fountains, water cascades, and lush subtropical gardens, even a seawalk promenade. Some of the best facilities for sports can be arranged here, everything from underwater adventures to horseback riding and boating. The on-site restaurants are among the very best in Madeira, dishing out fresh, quality meals.
