The village of Camacha, 10km (6 miles) northeast of Funchal, has long been known for being home to the cooperatives making the island's famous wicker baskets. Other wicker items -- everything from giraffes to sofas -- are also made here and sold in this factory outlet. Often the work is done at home on the island and brought to the factory for sale. Shipment can be arranged.
