Octopus Resort ReviewOf all the resorts in the Yasawas, Octopus has the broadest appeal across all age groups. Typically, the Yasawas are couples and singles friendly, attracting honeymooners and backpackers (and generally not children), but Octopus welcomes everyone and provides activities for singles and families alike. Many visitors island-hop throughout the Yasawas, but for the traveler who wants to stay in one place for a more relaxed vacation, Octopus is our clear choice. You don't have to spend a fortune to eat good food, relax on a long, beautiful beach, and stay in comfortable accommodations. A mix of accommodations include a 14-bed dorm room, private en suite bures, bungalow-style rooms with shared facilities, and deluxe private hotel-style rooms decorated with fresh flowers from the resort's gorgeous gardens. Octopus is one of the few resorts in the Yasawas that has a swimming pool. Right in the center of the resort, it's used for training in its PADI-certified dive course. With the choice of activities including the likes of movies under the stars, Octopus offers plenty to do over the course of a week, while you get in as much sun and sand as you like. Rare among the Yasawas, Octopus offers a free guided visit to a traditional Fijian village where you can buy homemade crafts and experience life among the locals. Take part in quiz night, held every Thursday evening, snack on homemade pastries and delicious Fijian fare, and snorkel in the turquoise waters. Don't miss a full hour's massage on the beach (book early -- appointments fill up fast). It's the best F$30 (US$20/£10) you'll ever spend! | 0 stars | Frommer's Recommended | |
| 1 stars | Frommer's Highly Recommended | |
| 2 stars | Frommer's Very Highly Recommended | |
| 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
