Frommer's Review
While Beachcomber Island continues to be the most popular Mamanuca resort among budget-minded travelers, you can get away from the crowds without paying a fortune at this Fijian-owned and -managed hotel. A main building with a restaurant and bar opens to a swimming pool beside a very good beach. The 22 beachside bungalows are rather simple, but they all have bathrooms and are clean and comfortable. Electric fans and screened, louvered windows compensate for the lack of air-conditioners, which are seldom needed since the resort benefits from the prevailing southeast trade winds. The dormitory that is air-conditioned is more expensive than the two fan-equipped dorms.
Facilities:
Restaurant; bar; game room; free kayaks, snorkeling gear, and Hobie Cats; outdoor pool; free washers and dryers

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
